I'm doing Mason Dixon Sunday...

MarcSpaz

I can go from 10 to noon, maybe 1. I will have to leave the house around 8 AM to make it work, but it will be worth it.

I will get there around 10ish. C'mon John, MD? MIR has better prep and DA.

Guys, sorry, I wish we had set this up a few days back. Zach is working tomorrow so we can both race Sunday. I have to diagnose a fuel pressure problem (or faulty gauge, maybe) tomorrow anyhow.

We'll catch up at the track in a week or so. But let's see where are cars are sitting.

Art called and left a message from Bradenton. Running consistent, good turnout, sounds like he's having fun. Wish I was there!!

Very cool. Hope he does well. I may have to roll up to MD Sunday, its only an hour away. We will see.

How'd you all do?

Depending on the weather, we may make a last minute change and drive to Capitol Raceway in Anne Arundel County. The northern edge of the state appears to be getting rain about 1pm or so tomorrow, so we're going to see what the forecast says at 10am. Crofton doesn't seem to be getting any rain until 10pm. We just want a few runs to see where the cars are sitting as is.

I'll try to remember to post our intentions in the morning...

Well, my mph was down, and I had driver mod issues. I was not stalling the car up correctly, having hard time finding the sweet spot, and tried the transbrake once and rolled through the beams. But it was still good to get the winter cobwebs off the car and the driver.

I may go to Mason Dixon tomorrow and try my luck there. Best I got out of the car was 11.99@112. Still a good time to hang out with friends and race.

03-07-2009, 04:26 PM
Hey, at least it was 11s. Watch the weather and this forum tomorrow, and I'll update whether we're going to Mason Dixon or Capitol. It's all depends on this damn rain!

Will do. Scott brought up a DA calculator on his iPhone. DA was at 800, in March..at MIR! I was hoping for negative DA's and a new best. Oh well. You going to GOTC John?

I'll be at GOOTC for a bit of racing and socializing--kind of pulls everyone out of hibernation. I think the first NVMC drag rental is the following week, so I'll concentrate on driving there.

Turns out I did have a fuel problem. After the new delete plates in January, a new tune was developed, but I couldn't take the car out much due to the weather. When I did last week, the damn car was idling weird and fuel pressure seemed all over. JJ at Woodbine Motorsports datalogged briefly this morning (Saturday! - that's customer service) and he found a fuel load issue. The adjustment he made to the tune was night and day and I spent part of today running around terrorizing Carroll County. The powerband seems very smooth and 6500rpm is coming up VERY fast, so I'm anxious to see if my seat of the pants indicator is right or I'm just all wet. We'll see tomorrow.

Let me know how it does, Mine is all over the place as well
Another strange thing. Today I ran 5 times.

I did not reflash the tune I was runnig the tune since Nov 2008
I had filled up my tank yesterday so last night I connected a hose the the end of the fuel filter and drained the tank to just over a 1/4, by the time I made it to MIR was had 5 miles to empty, I brought a 2.5 Gal Can of the fuel I pumped out the night before and put it back in.

First Run (69.8 Deg 30.18 49% Hum DA 671 Ft) (the car bogged of the line)
60' - 1.893
330 - 5.352
1/8 - 8.208
mph - 85.97
1000- 10.696
1/4 - 12.803
MPH - 107.12

Re-flashed tune and installed a PS Delete Belt. (71.8 Deg 30.17 46% Hum DA 797 Ft)
60' - 1.766
330 - 5.139
1/8 - 7.955
mph - 86.91
1000- 7.955 ????
1/4 - 12.510
MPH - 105.93 (Same as the ones below)

PS Delete. (69.8 Deg 30.16 49% Hum DA 693 Ft)
60' - 1.814
330 - 5.209
1/8 - 8.032
mph - 86.79
1000- 10.499
1/4 - 12.591
MPH - 105.93 (same as before)

PS Delete. (71.6 Deg 30.14 46% Hum DA 831 Ft)
60' - 1.777
330 - 5.142
1/8 - 7.955
mph - 87.10
1000- 10.415
1/4 - 12.503
MPH - 108.00

Put the PS Belt to normal (71.6 Deg 30.12 46% Hum DA 854 Ft)
60' - 1.777
330 - 5.146
1/8 - 7.957
mph - 87.07
1000- 10.418
1/4 - 12.506
MPH - 105.93 (Same as the others)

Again the Car Falls Flat on it's face in 4th gear.
I just don't understand the MPH 105.93 on all three runs, I think a malfunction with the speed gun.....Because the last 2 runs were identical except the MPH. I also PROVED that the PS Delete Belt does nothing at all.

I'm bailing too. 60% chance of rain/off and on showers, and the humidity is up to 60%. I'll stay home and nurse my wounds from shitty ET's yesterday. LOL.

I here ya, Nasty Day.
Marc is not too happy either, We nee to put our heads together and figure out whats up with his car. I think it's because of the stock clutch. he's putting 331 hp to the ground and the stocker is killing him. his car nose dives off the line, he can launch at 7K, the the comes off the line ok but noses in after it gets moving.

John,
Talk Marc into going to GOOTC and drive his car, maybe you can figure it out?

boss281
03-08-2009, 01:39 PM
At the last minute Zach said **ck it and went to Mason Dixon. Said 10 cars were there, but the humidity was killing his times by a full second, so he came home after a few runs.

We have the windows open in the house and are sweating up a storm!!!

rygen
03-08-2009, 01:41 PM
Sounds like a repeat of yesterday. With the rain coming in tonight, humidity must be up. That's what sucks about today, you can have the temps down, but humidity can still be high killing et's.

John,

We can swap cars for a run or two if he wants. I think you may be right on the clutch. With mine, you don't have to think about babying it--just drop it at 5500rpm and run. With my stock clutch I ALWAYS slipped it off the line. That car should be doing 12.5s...

Ok, here's what I got. If I get my new clutch installed before GOOTC, I will go. There is no way I can take it like it is. I drove about 70 miles today and I could smell it cooking every time I started from a stand-still or on a semi-hard shift. I am going to put the Spec Stage 2+ in on Thursday or Friday. Also, within the next couple of weeks I am putting in a set of 4.56:1 gears and an Eaton TruTrac.

Due to the unexpected hardware failures, it looks like I have to wait on the heads for about 2/3 months :(

As for my Dyno sheet, Todd... This is a before and after LT's and cams. You can see my power-band is pretty solid between 4k-6k and my peek HP/TQ are up 30+ HP/TQ from about 5k-7k.

Given I was told to expect a max of about 17 rwhp/tq per mod and I got 15+ per mod, I am guessing they are indexed correctly. I probably should have logged a run or two.

A/F was 12.8 I just changed the Fuel Filter and the GAS was just filled up the night before, I had to drain some gas out because I did not want to run with over 1/2 tank, I drained it out to just over 1/4 before I went to the track

A.) Link 1 give me an error = This video is a duplicate of a previously uploaded video.

2.) I didn't get treed, I was very shallow and my clutch was slipping. It took a second to get the car moving eventhough the clutch was fully engaged.

D.) When I get my car fixed, we'll try that again...

From the national forecast, this is mainly looking like a southern event that may trickle up into Maryland. So MIR is looking less likely, but I bet Mason Dixon may stay dry.

Scott I'll just get up early on Saturday and watch the forecast. If Saturday is hosed I'll do the same on Sunday. If that's hosed, well, there's always next weekend.
