If I had deep pockets I'd buy one. I had two Camaros before and liked them...

I am sure the Camaro is a fine car. BUT, why the hell do they ALL compare the top of the line Camaro SS to the mid-grade Mustang GT? They compare dollar to dollar instead of car to car. Apples and Oranges here folks. That makes me so mad!
The media and builders need to compare the Camaro LS to the Mustang, the Camaro LT to the Mustang GT, and the Camaro SS to the Mustang GT500. There is a BIG diff between "best dollar value" and performance comparison.
Don't get me wrong. A bone stock 13 flat, 425 FWHP sport car for $35k in an auto is great, but there is two problems. 1.) There is gonna be a major ADM for the first 2 years. 2.) If you give our cars FI, for about $6k we are looking at a total of 475 RWHP (not fwhp) that will slaughter the Camaro's ET's for a grand total of $32k. So even dollar per value, anyone who has their eyes open will know they are gettig shafted. At least this year.
Now, if it was 2011 or 2012, I would fell completely different about it. 2 years from now the ADM will be gone, the after-market parts will be proven, and you can build a sick ride for a great price. We'll have to see.

I don't get what you mean by this?
The Camaro V6 has (LS and LT Trim Packages) 304hp - 274 tq
The Camaro V8 has (RS and SS Trim Packages) 426hp - 420tq
2011 Camaro Z28 (GT-500 Killer) 550hp
Mustang V6 (Standard and Pony Packages) 210hp - 240tq
Mustang GT (Bullet, CS/GT, Shelby GT) "Premium and Deluxe packages 315hp -325tq
Mustang GT-500 (KR-500) 540hp - 520tq
Why would you compare a V6 Camaro to a V8 Mustang?
GM built the LT/LS to compete and Beat the Mustang V6 and they Built the RS/SS to compete and Beat the GT
and Next year they will Built the Z28 to Compete and Beat the GT-500 but the KR will still be Top Dog.

Very little dealer Markup GM already stated, with the Economy and the finacial institutions are not going to give financing
over MSRP. GM Bob Lutz already stated that the most you will see in markups they will allow is $1000 Max.

Mustang GT-500 (KR-500) 540hp - 520tq

I thought the LT series engines were V8's... NBD. The z28 does not exist, so I don't count it as in the mix right now. The SS is their top of the line.
As far as little or no ADM, I'll believe it when I see it...

I need to see the power curve on these, especially the LT. Just because it makes a nice peak HP number does not mean it has an efficient power curve. Its funny, but at the track, I see mustang GT's wipping up on challengers and chargers with 2 more litres. Part of it is the IRS, and the other part is weight, but the power curve on the 4.6 3v is highly efficient. There is a reason its in the top 10 motor list.
Once ford puts the Duratec in the V6 model, it will domonate the base class I'm sure. What good is 300hp if you have to spin up to 7000 rpm to get to it. I remember when the Challenger was about to be relased, with all these preliminary numbers, ET predictions, etc.
Then, at the track, it told a different stroy. I'm stoked there are more pony cars out there now. But I don't buy into the number hype.

True but the GT500 did not come out until 2007, the GT was top of the line for 2 years so you can't compare the SS with the GT500 the SS/RS was built to compete with the GT...
The SS Package has a larger brake (Brembo) some interior upgrades, standard 19" wheels and a front scoop. the RS will still have the V8 but not the better brakes, scoop, Standard 18" wheels and interior up grades.
