Was wondering what is a better setup for the 4.0L V6, Turbos or Supercharger? the Centuri style Superchargers make real nice power but Todd ran his Turbo V6 to 10.8 in the 1/4

The PH turbo kit currently owns the 1/4 when it comes to the 4.0.

In general, turbo is going to be the best way to go due to the fact that there are zero losses due to drag on the engine. Centri and TS super chargers all have a large amount of HP lost to turing the SC. From what I have heard, it can be as low as 12 HP and as high as 50+.

Depends on the efficiency of the super charger. One of the reasons the TVS blowers are so awesome, they are super efficient, and operate at very low IAT's. but for turbos, sizing and design are key. For example, these are the turbo kits out for the 4.0 today:

-STS
-Forced 4 (not in production)
-JHP
-Powerhouse

In terms of ET's, they rank as follows:

1. PH - Front mounted, no oil pump
2. JHP - Front mounted, no oil pump
3. STS - Rear mounted, oil pump
4. FF - Under the engine, oil pump

The FF kit delivers the most TQ, due to the smaller 57 I believe, but does not have the HP advandage over the the PH/JHP kit. The JHP and STS actually have simular ET numbers. But the JHP does have some minor lag issues, the STS delivers the lowest IAT of all the kits, so you can get agressive with the tuning.

The PH kit delivers a nice combination of HP and TQ, and has the most R&D behind it of the kits listed. It was desinged for street and strip, and tested extensively on both. The turbo was sized specifically for that motor, designed to deliver a lot of TQ early in the power band, but deliver a nice top end charge after the 1/8th marker.
