I know most of you guys are "Stick Types" :p But I thought
I would pass this along anyway..
I have been having a slipping issue with my 2005 Auto Tranny, I have a TCI Super Street Fighter 3500 Stall. the tranny works fine shifting during WOT from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd but from 3rd to 4th, as soon as it shifts into 4th the RPMs slowly drop before the tranny fully enguages. could this be low fluid? Bad TCI? maybe tighten the bands or could this be a more serious problem?
I bought the TCI Converter from JIM III @ JDM and I am wondering if I got a bad converter. He said for me to bring my car to him and he will tune it for 300 bucks for the TCI. I asked Doug and he told me the TCI does not need any tuning. so I have not tuned the tranny for the converter.

I was under the impression that you edit shift points, which is not related to the TC. The TC is a centrifugal clutch. Thre is nothing you can adjust in the computer to change that. Either the TC is hosed, the trans filter needs to be cleaned/replaced, or a diaphragm is not fulling engaging the gears.

You can edit the shoft points and pressure but those event take place at the shift event, this slippingI have is after the shift event. I al looking into the Servos now, there are 2 of them, 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th 1st and 5th are gears I guess.. So if the long wind down slip happens in 4th then that servo could have the issue,
There are a few parts that could be bad
#5C. Fits 5R55S Carbon Fiber bands for 2nd and overdrive. Two required per transmission. This band will have firm shifts. Cost $25.00<!--webbot bot="HTMLMarkup" startspan -->
#5S. Fits 5R55S / 5R55W.
Intermediate servo Cost 35.00
Overdrive Servo Cost $15.00
Here are some performance parts I have found for the 5R55S Trans

I talked to Larrys Transmission in California and I explaned to him whats going on and he said it sounds like the bands are warn out, he suggest an overhaul.. Does anyone know of a tranny shop that will do an overhaul with performance in mind?

There is no one local that I personally would recommend. Send 94tbird a message and ask him who did his.

Honestly, I would go with a 4r70 and a manual valve body. You can get into one for 1800 and it will last a lot longer and have more potential. A 5r55 build up will be more. Another option is to see if anyone will sell thier old 5r55 that made the swap. I've seen take out 5r55's for 500 bucks before.

Did you notice this RIGHT after you installed the converter,or did it happen over time?

I found this post on S197forum..
there is a special tool used to align the drive plate on the OEM or a TCI converter. The holes in the drive plate which bolts to the T/C are larger than the studs on the T/C. The tool centers the drive plate on the T/C studs. If you don't use the tool and properly align the plate, the drive plate will not be centered on the T/C when it is bolted to the flex plate. The result will be a vibration and premature failure of the trans pump bushings and eventually the pump itself.
I know others have not used the tool and not had any issues. However I have seen this failure which is the direct result of not using the alignment tool.
The only T/C that I'm aware of that doesn't require the alignment tool is the PI T/C. However there may be other aftermarket T/Cs that don't require the tool.
I followed the Directions from JIMII@JDM and there was no requirment for a alignment tool

I just sent my TCI SSF 3500 to TCI and I asked them about the Alignment tool and they said you must use it or the trans will fail.
