Several members suggested that I convert this thread into more of a reference. I already got several PM's and IM's on links and part numbers for these DR's. I put the part numbers in just in case the links break due to vendor web site changes, you can still search for the part number. You can also search for the part number to try to find the best price.

The goal of this thread is to outline DR's available for street rims, as a lot of us are daily drivers first, drag racers second. So, here are the only options I could find for those of us running street rims (which is like 99%) of us, and frankly, the options are limited!

This will be an ongoing thread, so input is welcome and encouraged.

I have purchased:
Front: Hoosier Pro Street Radials 26x7.50R17's

Rear: M&H Racemasters 325/45/17's

from a friend. How will they react on 'Tara'

how about the 265/40/18 MT ET SR II for the stock 18" rim?

I've run them for about a year and some change. Pull 1.6-1.7 60's on them.

I am in the market for several sets of tires and I need some insight on tire sizing and the accuracy of "advertised tread width”. I tried roaming the pits the last few times out at the track hoping I find someone with the exact tires I am interested in, but that was pretty fruitless.

The Tire and Rim Association, Inc. has established the current US standards of interchangeability for tires, rims and allied parts for the guidance of manufacturers. Based on their definitions, I am understanding that the tread width is the part of the tire that is intended to touch the ground to provide traction NOT to include the shoulder or sidewall. Only the contact patch.

With this understanding, I bought a set of M&H tires that were advertised as 11.3” tread width. I measured them and they are actually 9.3” tread width. In fact, nothing on that set of tires was 11.3”.

I would like to get a separate set of DR's for the track verses the street.

For the track, I was looking at the ET Street (3758) 27X10.50-15LT with an advertised 8.9” tread width

OR

a set of ET Street Radial (3756R) P255/60R15 with an advertised 9.0 width.

If I put a measuring tape on the tread of either of these tires, are they actually going to measure somewhere between 8.9” – 9.0” or am I going to need a different product number to get a actual 8.8” – 9.0” tread?

For the street, I am looking the ET Street Radial II (3745R) P295/45R17 28X11.50R17 10.6” advertised tread width.

Same question. Will this tire actually measure 10.6”?

I really don’t know if race tires are measured differently then street tires, if M&H doesn't know how to use a ruler, or if I just do not understand how the measurements are taken and advertised.

So what the hell do I do? I don't want anything smaller that 9" or larger than 10.5" and right now it seems like a crap shoot.

I was in the same boat, so I went with these...

And they were "As advertised"?
