Thanks,

Bio: Ordered my '06 GT Deluxe Coupe January of 2006. Upgrades were leather, active theft, and polished bullitts. Wife wanted a car we could "share" so we settled on HP (Performance White). Six months later we "had" to get a Redfire Metallic Vert (tired of "sharing"). Since then, sold the vert and got a little outta hand with mods on the coupe.

Reason I'm here:

Been going to the track to see if I can break into the 12s and keep the car a road handling biased daily driver. I have done sub 3 minute lap times at Road America (Elkhart Lake, WI) and I want to be in the 12s and keep the car as a 24 MPG daily driver. I did a 13.19 at 103.8 but haven't improved in two years. I've added parts, but seems to just keep dropping 60' time.

Appreciate being a part of the Mustang crowd. I am also a member on another National site that caters more to cosmetic mods, but I have been "lurking" here a bit lately and decided to chime in.

:1st: VERY NICE

Absolutly Fantastic Looking Car, More Pics Please !!!!!

I here ya on the Basic Daily and Track use. I have not touched my ride height in fear of drag times suffering.
I too ran the VIR track in under 3 min and run 12.3 - 12.5 sec in the 1/4 mile. The reason we started this site
was to help N/A Guys run faster times, most performance sites will tell you to stick a Super charger on it and you
will go fast. but we beleive other wise...

Welcome to the site! You have a great Mustang.

Is your car a stick or auto? There is some transmission things you can do to help, but I need to know which to recommend. ;)

The trick to good drag times with min power is forward traction. Most of my suspension mods are for road course since I enjoy the twisties too. However, there are some minor changes that had to be made to tune for a happy medium for dual purpose.

I was able to get into the 12's with my stick with the following mods;

Steada Underdrive Pulleys
C&L Cold Air Intake
Comp Cams NSR Cams
American Racing Long Tube Headers
4.10:1 Ring and Pinion Gears
FRPP SVT Front Lower Control Arms and Ball Joints
FRPP SVT Front and Rear Anti-Roll Bars
FRPP SVT / Dynamic Single Adjustment Shocks and Struts
FRPP Lowering Springs
BMR Race Series Rear Double Adjustable Lower Control Arms
BMR Lower Control Arm Relocation Brackets (welded)
M&H Racemaster 325/45r17 Drag Radials on Stock Wheels
Tuned by Doug at BamaChips.

I drive my car every day to work, out to dinner, even the occasional 300-400 mile road trip for a romantic get-a-way with the wife. Even now with all of the hardcore mods I have, I still get 22+ mpg on the highway and 17 mpg in the city.

Scott has an auto, and he was able to get deep in the 12's with even fewer mods than me. Hopefully he can chime in.

Welcome to the site! You have a great Mustang.

My Mods:
JLT II CAI Tuned by Doug at BamaChips.
Steeda UDP
Steeda CMDP
LBA Long Tube Headers / Catted H
Spyder Aluminum DS
FRPP 4.10 Gears
TCI Super Street Fighter Torque Converter
CHE Lower Control Arms
Steeda Upper Adj Control Arm
True Trac Detroit Locker (Not the Best for Road Course)
LPW Differential Cover Girdle
M&H Racemaster 275/50r17 Drag Radials on Stock Wheels

thats good for a low 12 second car.

The Charge Motion Delete Plates and Headers where the best power boost I have noticed as a combo mods.
the CAI and Tune gave me the best ET Times and the Aluminum Drive shaft gave the the best butt dyno feel.

Since you are trying to build a car that performs well on both tracks I would stick with the gears you have, Seriously think
about getting some suspension upgrades but be sure it does not take away from one of your goals. I hear 12 way adjustable struts
can allow you to quickly setup for either track.

Thanks for the input.

As far as mods:

Steeda Comp. Springs
Steeda billet LCAs
CHE Relocation brackets
CHE Adjustable Panhard bar
Eibach camber bolts
C&L Racer Intake w/ DiabloSport C&L Racer 93 octane tune
Under drive pulleys
Cherry bomb axle backs 55506

I'm running 255 A/S tires though and I didn't heat them sufficiently. I had a 2.52 60' on my last outing and it was miserable.

As far as my suspension goes. The car doesn't dive or squat. I hook well on warm days on the street and I can barely squak second. I have a 5-spd with a Hurst shifter and I moved my rev. limit to 6400. I try to shift about 6100.

Outside of that, the car is killer on the highway. I have 3.73 FRPP gears.

I may do a lightened flywheel, CMDPs, a new clutch, an aluminum DS and Drag Wheels and tires next season.

I think heading to a "real" track will help. The prep at our local is "volunteer" and is really hit or miss.

Bummer on the track prep, but your setup sounds pretty good.

If you are going to race or do any hard, spirited driving, I would stay away from an AL flywheel. They warp and blue easily and need to be replaced often.

Also, although the lighter rotational mass seems like a good idea, you want the weight of the steel flywheel to help keep revs up between shift at the track... IMHO
