Any chance that a bracket racing class could be included?
I think it would increase the total participation to include a class where everyone is on a level playing field.

I mentioned this to John already. It is a guaranteed way to up the car counts which will only help the event.
I would like to see an NA V6 and a PA V6 class as well. If it is an S197 shootout these cars should be allowed to race too. I have a customer with a high 11 sec V6 who would probably come to the event.
V6 classes are in the works.............

We'll take that under consideration--we discussed the heads up vs bracket/index format at length. One problem we faced was that brackets attract dedicated race cars, and we want to focus on true streetable Mustangs...
Let's see how much interest is generated though--thanks for the suggestion.

I don't think there are that many deidcated 3V bracket cars out there. I have only seen a couple at NMRA events and they are not even full blown race cars. Most dedicated bracket racers are not buying new Mustangs. The bracket class lets S197 owners who don't feel they can be competitive in the heads up classes have a place to race. It also allows for track use between the heads up rounds which is good for specatators.

But thats what this event is about.. Giving S197 owners heads up classes they can complete in. We just need to workout the Mods list for each Class so all can complete.

You see, thats just it. I dont think anyone can set up class restrictions so that everyone can be competitave. No matter how you cut it, only the cars that are at or close to the preset mod levels will truly be competative.
A bracket class levels the playing field.

The fastest car doesn't always win the race. You might get lined up with a guy like me who has 350 RWHP, but with my fat @$$ in the car, it's 4000 lbs and I miss second gear and now you are in the running and I am taking picures in the grand stands...
Truth is, someone is getting bumped in every round, regardless of the type of racing.

Sorry but it is not possible. There are simply too many mods out there for these cars so unless you want 15 NA classes it is simply not going to happen. Most casual racers are not going to travel hours and hours to race heads up when they don't think they have a chance. Sure gears get missed and breakage can happen which might benefit a slower car but the reality of it is that most people interested event are going to know who the car to beat is and will have an idea where they stand. I can tell you right now IMHO it will take mid 12s to win the slowest NA class you have listed. There are many mid 13 sec cars that will not bother running because they know they are out gunned. A bracket class gives them a place to race, put up a nice prize for the winner and you will get a good turnout.

Folks, as always thanks for posting up your thoughts, and keep 'em coming. Bust my chops if you don't think you're getting heard.
The team is meeting in a week or so to go over a lot of the logistics. It's too early to start making significant protocol changes as we've only been up "live" a week or so, but we are going over this early feedback and keeping tabs on the interest. There are lots of variables we have to deal with, including making sure we get done in the alloted timeframe!! I may be wrong as I haven't looked deeply into the responses, but actually there appears to be more pressure right now to include V6s, as it was correctly pointed out many of these cars are doing pretty damn good in the 1/4 mile, and with turbo or S/C easily sliding into the 10s.
Heads, fuel, brackets, etc are all being considered, and even I had to make a hard choice about my own freaking mods and hold off on the heads. But that's the pain of leading by example, eh?
Our goal is to give the Mustang enthusiest crowd something new and something they will not only remember but come back the following year. Sponsor interest and even media interest (thanks Bill!) has been surprising to say the least.
Keep them coming, and we'll keep you updated.
Regards folks.
John
