After several arguments with my wife about the tranny issue with the car and the cost to repair (2500.00) plus I need a set of new tires to get it to pass inspection (1000.00) we can't afford to repair the car so I Must sell all aftermarket parts and trade for stock parts so I can get a decent trade-in on the car.
I am not 100% ready to start yet since I am still looking into alternatives, this really is a weeks worth of work..
My Wife and I Decided to Park it in the Garage and wait to fix it, it's not worth returning it to stock to take a value hit due to the trans thowing codes
I can't fake that at the dealer.
Sorry for the disturbing news last night, we had a very heated argument with her crying alot so we decided to step back and talk when our emotions were in check. My wife and I never argue, in the last 25 years we have had 10 or 12 fights like this one so it hits hard when they happen.

Gosh Scott, this pains me to read this.
I just talked with Laura and she's very interested in your headers/hpipe combo, and the frpp muffler ($600 total). She will have the money NEXT week, is that OK??? I'm not sure if she's willing to part with the stock manifold, so I can probably dig mine out of my ex's garage attic (I"ve yet to clear all that car stuff out of there).
I'm still debating selling my Bogarts with brand new drag tires mounted in a day or so, and I'll have some money--I'm very interested in that radio for $300.
Personally, I hope you find a way to keep the car man. I really do...

I hate arguing with my wife, she brings up valid points but she does not see the work I put into the car and the work it will take to restore it back to stock. My argument is that it will cost us more to return it to stock to trade it in on an equal value car.
My Post to part the car back to stock was in Anger and haste because the news of the rebuild cost. I tossed around the idea doing the rebuild myself but time is not on my side. I am angery that I can not race in November because of it and this also may have caused me to jump the gun. I am looking into alternatives so I don't have to sell but money is an issue.
Second point I have with my wife is that I have a Saturn SL in the Garage with a spun bearing and needs a crank, I could have this running in a short time, this will allow my daughter to give up my truck and drive the saturn. then I can park the mustang in the garage and work on it during the winter. this is my best alternative right now. I think Frustration and anger are driving alot of emotions (mostly my wife's) she always worries about money, it eats at her..
For now I am going to hold on selling any parts unless I have them all spoken for.
I am not selling the SCT Xcal II, if and when I have the car back to stock, it goes to Marc.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if you could trade in $3500 in parts putting it back to stock and do your repair/tire, can't you just KEEP it???? And frankly I'd think a Mustang take off part company would have a tranny in good working order for a lot less. Heck, I can get a brand new 5 speed for $700...

Today Cooler Heads Prevail.....
I spent 2 hours at lunch today with the wife explaining this to her, what she did not understand is why I could not trade the car in the way it sits.
I had to make her understand that Long tube headers are Tecniclly an off road item and a dealer can not sell a car as street legal with them. also with the Intake and CMDP the car will not run with the stock tune, and a dealer will not sell a car with non ford tuning hand held. the car needs to be restored to stock first and thats a hard job. plus a dealer will ding us 3500 off the trade in value because of the bad tranny, and they will use new list prices not rebuilt prices. so it's not worth messing with it.
I think she just hates that the car demands so much of my attention that she feels thretend by it... I call the Car Gretchen so she see's it as the other woman in a way.
We Decided to Park it in the Garage and wait to fix it over time. I will save the money and rebuild it. In the mean time I need to get the Saturn Running ASAP. need the car for the Kids to use so I can drive my truck again.
John, Thanks.. I called Brian to see if the trans is still avalable, waiting for response..

Yea no Auto Trans avalable for a good price. I don't have a lot to spend right now with school starting, drag event weekend trip and work obligations
(600 for CISSP Test, if I pass 1200 for second chance) I need to do in September to keep my Job

My (ex?) wife complained, often bitterly, about my time spent with automotive and musical pursuits, and this contributed to (but certainly was not the overall cause of) my breakup and current separation. It was clearly seen as a threat, although sadly enough it never really was.
Hang in there, sounds like you have a new, more logical plan emerging. Good luck looking for the tranny, I'm keeping my eye out as well...
John
This sounds much better:)

John,
Thanks for the Link, I was able to contact the guy and buy the transmission. I should be able to pick it up next week when he pulls it from the car.

Yea, I am contemplating putting the TCI back in or do I put the stocker in for now.
My Options are
Have TCI check out the converter.
Rework a stock converter
Run the TCI and hope for the best
run a stock converter till a PI or better comes along
I plan on rebuilding my current transmission with stronger parts over the winter. the Used one I picked up is from an 08 and it has 349 miles on the clock, the guy is building a full track car and is selling everything including the carpet..
Use the stock converter till the built trans is ready to go in, then check your converter options at that time.
