I find it interesting... SPR cams are such a temptation...

BUT

Look at the fastest running n/a s197's...

If the cams were that much better, wouldnt there be a larger separation between SPR, NSR, VSR cammed cars?

Im about l-l this close to getting a cam change, the ONLY thing keeping me, is that if I do all that work, and only get a tenth... Id hang myself w/ my timming chain.

An intake improvement and cam would get the majority of us near needing a cage; which I think we'd all find a nice place to squat.

Did the intake FRPP do much, any good... only Matt can tell, and still running stock, and being so light, its hard to say what it'd do for us w/ weight, heads, and cams... It would appear to work, but w/ these cars... What appears/should be, usually is ass backwards.

Just frustrated that there is not one single significant improvement to this platform in over a year!!! Feel like thats it...

the 5.4 and what spyder did is great, but all that $$, and a year of building and tuning for only .5ish...

It looks like the darkside is a calling; w/ our setups in the low 12's... all we need is a Maggie, or something 'small' to get us running w/ most big whipple, mammoth guys w/ ALOT more reliability!

I'm with you bro. I have been looking at some of the really low boost super chargers thinking "if I leave on the UDP and get the biggest blower pulley, that might keep the boost down enough to hold together..." LOL

The big thing with cams are the rest of the intake system. I had NSR cams with LT's, stock heads, and a CAI. That combo got me 34 rwhp compared to the stock heads and exhust. The problem was that I only got 7 rwtq, which is what makes the car go faster... AND I spent a total of $2,200 to get it. It still hurts talking about it now.

When I got the stage 3 cams, ported heads, springs, and SS valves, I spent $4,100, almost double. However, I gained 91/60 rwhp/tq compared to stock w/CAI and a tune and 57/41 rwhp/tq compared to the NSR setup.

My engine, and car in general, is capable of doing 11's right now if it wasn't for my ongoing trans issues. I trapped 3 passes at 12.80x @ 112 mph compared to my typical 12.5 @ 108 mph, and that was with the clutch hanging on the input shaft and chattering out between every gear and a best 60' of 1.9 compared to my 1.7's. That would have easily been an 11.9xx pass if the clutch didn't hang coming out of the hole and between gears. Plus, at my weight of 3800 lbs, if I start doing weight saving mods, I can prob drop 2/10.

I hate this game and love it at the same time. I am on my 3rd trans in 2 months and getting ready to buy a 4th! WTF! Why can I not catch a break.

I've been thinking the same thing, but we still have stock cams, so when the time comes to upgrade, why not get SPR's? I've been bouncing between the Stage 2's and 3's, very hard to decide, I am leaning towards the Stage 2's b/c of a little more streetability, although they are both streetable cams.

I just want our car to have good/reliable power on the street and run low 12's(or high 11's, wishful thinking LOL) at the track w/ a simple swap to DR's.

The Supershaker is becoming more and more tempting........
