1. The Mac axlebacks sound great but have suddenly become very, very raspy and annoying. I thought I'd secured a used set of FRPP GTAs, but the guy backed out when someone came on the last minute and offered more. To hell with the used market so I went out and bought some new Magnaflow mufflers. I've heard they are nice and quiet in the cabin but still makes a statement when you punch it. In between things tomorrow I'll try to crawl underneath and install these. I'm curious to see how they sound with the JBA longtubes/o/r h-pipe setup.

2. Also got some BMR tubular a-arms, and hopefully the 20lb drop in weight should compensate for the added weight of the C&L manifold. I doubt I'll have time for these Sunday though.

3. Speaking of the manifold, Lee sent out a brand new production unit Friday and says it was tested to ensure it didn't have the vacuum leak that sometimes appears with some units off the production line. It should arrive Tuesday I suppose. He's excited as he think it will definately show gains compared to the two pre-prod units that went on the car to date. I like the increased throttle response with the last one and hope that isn't compromised. I've also got on the shelf C&L's racer inlet tube as well as a GT500 TB and adapter that I picked up brand new but very cheap. I may have to go through a new tune with all the new air flowing through the unit, and may as well ask JJ to dyno it.

Other than those items, my only other changes being considered are lighter weight sport seats (Corbeau's????), a decent Nav/Radio to replace that POS Shaker 1000 (I've already yanked the subwoofer/amp encloser), and the BMR front coilover kit to complement the rear suspsension.

Come on winter, let's get this cold shit over with.

Sounds like you have a nice winter project ;-) Can't wait to see the outcome.

I love the fact that your car is as fast as it is in 100% street dress. I want a nice muscle car I can blast down the track for bragging rights or take the car out on a Friday night. Keep up the good work...

BTW, I have the MagnaFlows on my car. It is very respectable with regard to cruise, but when I hit it, everyone knows it is time for business.

@John: Do you do long distance driving in your car?

@Marc: When do your 4.10s go in?

As for my winter plans...

-Locker
-Cage
-Cams

That's it. If money gets tight, it will just be the locker.

I am pretty sure it will be done Monday or Tuesday. A sponsor is doing the job for free (P&L) so I am not rushing them LOL. My car has been down for 12 days... I feel like a junkie going through the shakes... :(

What locker are you looking at? Something like an ARB Air Locker or and Eaton TruTrack LSD?

Eaton Locker, not a trutrac...my car is making too much TQ for a trutrac. Both Mike and Chris said the same thing about a TT not lasting long on my setup.

Ok... I don't know what tq you are making. I assumed it would be ok. I know 2 people over 600 rwtq that are using them for a few years.

I like the air locker so you can have LSD or open diff on the street then lock it up on the track.

Todd, my car is rarely driven long distances except for jaunts like Mustang Week. Normally it's garaged and taken out for racing and cruises and Sunday drives.

FWIW, I put the Magnaflows axlebacks on today. They are SOOOOOO quiet compared to my Mac axlebacks. The sound is different and not very aggressive, but I wanted some quiet in the cabin again. Well, I got it. WOT, it growls just fine though. The passenger side muffler has a crappy alignment, and I need to get underneath while it's on a lift and fix it with a BFH.

Oh, forgot one: 4.30 gears. Man, come on spring!

LOL... Good deal.

Those mufflers are quite. I have been thinking about cut-outs for once I get to the track. I noticed on mine, they got rid of some raspy rattles too.

Can you get a vid or audio clip of it? I'd love to hear it.

Yes, the rasp from the Macs is MOSTLY gone (still a touch--the o/r h-pipe maybe???).

Frankly Marc, I don't think a vid will do much good. It is quiet and I mean QUIET at idle--hear it in person at the winter events (there's the cruise to Sonic in Hanover PA next Saturday). Laura's car is clearly louder than mine now...:(

If you want loud without raspy sounds get the Stingers

2010 RACE SEASON TOYS.

1) FIX the Fuckin Car.
If I can't Fix the Car with a Tune, Pull CAMS and replace with Stock CAMS
If that Does not Fix the Car, Return it to Stock and Sell the Damn Thing.

2) Buy a Better Car..
Used GT500 or a 2011 with the 400hp 5.0 or a SS Camaro.

Camaro.....

...Nooooooooooo.

I LIKE the new Camaros--they grow on me every time I see one. There's a Chevy place up here in Westminster that has a slew of used Mustangs and Challengers for sale all lined up together, and we always slow down and gawk when we drive buy. The last time, they had a beautiful white SS and red SS sitting out next to them. Gawd almighty.

If I had more cash flow, I'd buy a Challenger, Camaro, Cadillac CTS Coupe (when available, and for commuting) and a 2011 Mustang GT with the 5.0.

I like it too, not enough to buy it though. I like the Challenger better. But I still prefer a mustang over all.

Toys for 2010 eh...................

Well, I just bought my 4.10s and some MT drag radials. I was on the verge of getting a good deal on some Kook LTs and an x-pipe, BUT, well, that's another story.

rygen

4.10's will get you well past a 12.9xxxxxxxxxxx

That's what they keep telling me. Driver mod will be the biggest issue. Plus the right size DRs that I ordered will help as well. No more bogging I hope.

Just bought a used set of FRPP GTAs. My guess is they are somewhere between the Magnaflows and Macs...

You pick up the ones from S197forums?

boss281
11-16-2009, 10:19 PM
Yep. Guy in Jersey posted them up a little bit ago, and we sealed the deal for $150. Want to see how they compare against the (quiet) Magnaflows and (loud) Macs...

John, If I had known you wanted FRPP GTA's I have a pair of Decent GTA's in My Garage, I replaced them with the FRPP Stingers.

I am still leaning torward the Magnaflows for DD, My Sub-Division is getting pissed at me leaving at 6am and making Dogs bark and babies cry.

Crap. Screw em.

I know, I have to move, there are just a bunch of Old Farts that live here. I went from Medium Loud to Loud with this swap so I could see why the pissed off people.
The Guy Across the street has two harleys, both him and his wife ride, he says people complain all the time, he drives by the complainers and gives them a one finger wave. He's the only one that LOVEs waking up in the morning to the sound of my Mufflers...

A Cop Pulled me over yesterday on the way home, I was trying to capture some data on my laptop so I started off a bit fast and got up to 60 before hitting my brakes (a guy in a toyota made a left turn infront of me) I noticed I was going 15 over and slowed down. Then I notice lights behind me, He was an Undercover SUV, He Was so Pissed I thought I was going to get pulled from the car and beat up, He was going to site me for Reckless Driving, In Virginia that can get you jail time and suspension, and in some cases impound of Car. I should not have been driving like that and I know better, in doing so I waved my Right of Way if I hit the Toyota.

He Verbally gave me the riot act, Said he expected this from someone much younger and said the exhaust was "Give me a ticket" loud.
In the end he was cool about it and said insted of giving me a ticket I got a Lecture. I am sure happy he had a change of heart.
I only have 2 speeding tickets on my record and one is falling off this spring. I will be driving more carefully in Fairfax from now on.
