Any of you guys considering a full on NA motor build up? I know some of you are running heads, cams and potentially the new C&L Intake. Anyone considering a high CR piston setup?
What about a 5.0 stroker? Whos getting really hard core on their setups?

I have JUST begun researching this, as mentioned earlier today. JJ is finally giving up on his "just be done with this and get a supercharger" mantra and we've touched on approaches to a ground up rebuild or new motor for 2010.
So far I've picked up two books from the man we love to hate, Sean Hyland, entitled "High Performance Mustang Builder's Guide 1994-2004", and "How to Build Max-Performance 4.6-liter Ford Engines". I guess I should start reading tonight.
I also ordered two other books, "How to Rebuild 4.6-/5.4-Liter Ford Engines" by George Reid which comes out in a couple of months, and "Ford Engine Buildups HP1531: Covers 302/351 CID Small-Blocks, 1968-1995 4.6L and 5.4L Modular Engines, 1996-2008; Heads, Cams, Stroker Kits, Dyno-Tested Power Combos, F.I. Systems" by Evan J. Smith and Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords Magazine.
I'll keep my eyes open for shortblock or deals on just the block now too...

This is in the works for next year...100% for sure. I would love to get between 11.5 - 12.5 to 1 CR. Need to do some research. I know anything 12.5:1 you pretty much need full time race fuel, so I may stay on the lower side so I can still drive it on the streets.
I am not going to spend too much time on it now due to funds, but I am watching the posts to help ease the learning curve.

I thought you were going FI Marc?
It's on the plate to consider.
My thinking is this, I am building an engine one peice at a time. I am pulling the heads off this engine. Later on next year I wanted to get a block with a built bottom end to go FI. My current mods plus a kick-but turbo or centri SC system at 5 lbs of boost would rock me into 570+ at the wheels and deep into the 10's and I can start chasing 9's from there.
However, if I can get 420+ NA out of a built top-end, it might be more fun to chase low 11's or 10.999 with an added bored/stroked block.
The coin toss will be won by just how streetable the car is at 400+ NA HP.

You looking at foxlake heads? If you go all motor I would look at a higher CR, you can always set it up for the bottle later.

No Spray. Up in the air on the Foxlake's? Livernios is looking good at this point.

Sending my core out has never been to my liking. If I had an extra set that I picked up cheap or free, I'd send them to fox lake, as they have a great rep and certainly price competitive. But I hate the down time on my car as is, and hte livernois option just seems a better choice right now. Just waiting on the cash saved up...

I'll let you use mine after I do my swap, if I can get your old ones when you are done. Livernios will give me $200+ for my old ones, but I don't mind waiting if the timing helps you.

Marc, I'll give you $200 for the heads! There's a guy near me that does custom machine work, and it might be fun to try something different. It will cost me less money this way anyhow. If you are ok with that, I'll start researching a setup and begin ordering the new cams and other supporting parts...

Ok, that sounds good.
I should be ordering my heads Thursday or Friday and should be able to get them installed within the next 2 weeks. I'll let you know when we get ready to do the install.

Got this from Amazon today: http://www.amazon.com/Rebuild-4-6-5-4-Liter-Engines-Sadesign/dp/1932494804/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239729085&sr=8-1 . (couldn't paste the cover picture in here for some reason).
Looks like a basic but interesting read! I'll have thoughts after I've gone through it.

That looks good. I am interested in how it compares to the Ford service manual.
