How many people run these? I've heard mixed reports that they work, don't work, etc.
Seems the Ford ones are not available any more, and you have to go with the Steeda ones:

That whole Ford not making them any more was kind of interesting. Steeda came out with the billet version, then FRPP started selling the stock castings before they were drilled for the plate control rods. FRPP sold for a little less than half what the Steeda billets did. Turns out Steeda had a patent issue with FRPP. Now Steeda sells both.
I saw a decent gain with the Steeda Econo (FRPP at the time) plates. I felt like I picked up a solid .08 with them. That was the only change at the time and within a week on the track times. DA was very similiar, enough to be close. I have heard similiar claims from others.

Oh, I might as well tell: the Steeda billet jobbies went in last month as I've HEARD they help with the upper RPM ranges--I got mine really cheap. We'll see in March if they made a difference, as that's the only change made, except for the tune. While on the dyno the car really started driving to lean at higher rpm and JJ had to really work the tables to keep it at 12.5 throughout the range.
I have that damn C&L manifold preordered, but I'm not counting my chickens. Doug said "2-3 more weeks" in an email Friday, so I'll have track time if that estimate is good.

I have the Steeda Race Plates ...ehhhh there MIGHT be a couple HP up top-I would tell people to put there money elsewhere and make this one of your last mods.

They came real cheap and unexpectedly, so I figured what the hell. Let's see how things respond at the track. Next weekend is already looking hosed though...

Those are great if you want to spray, these have the ports for Nos built in
I put my FRPP/Steeda econos in last year, I did not notice much of a change with them, I picked up 1-2 mph in the trap and a 10th in the 1/4. I installed Long tube headers a few months lator and I gained 4 10/ths in the 1/4 I feel that the Delete plates helped a bit here because the air had to go somewhere right?

This is where I am sitting right now except I have not installed them yet. Based on opinion around the internet I may hold of on installing them for a while.

Save your money and buy an intake with extended runners so you can remove the plates. C&L is confirmed by a reputable tuner on 17 rwhp on a stock s197 and a gain of 30 rwhp on a cammed s197 w/LT's.

Listen, they are not a mod to buy to make 'power' pure and simple. They are mod of necessity...period.
What I mean exactly is you get them when you NEED them. When do you need them? When you have any type of forced induction that doesn't delete them.
The simple reason is because you do not want to stick a butterfly under boost and have all of your boost pushing through a couple cylinders.
It's like an EH20 pump for blower cars. You don't get one because it gives you any power, you get one so if you toss a belt, you can still drive the car home...

LOL... I like the point on the EH20 pump. You can still drive for awhile without a belt if cooling is still working.
I have driven an off-road truck at 70 mph for an hour, at night, in the rain, with the wipers and lights going before my battery dropped to the point were I couldn't drive any further. I had a second battery which made it so I could get all the way home.
