I am in the same boat. I don't know what to tell you.

Well, is the extra $150 worth it for the Race Stars and not have a spacer? I have to think about it.

As far as tires go, I am up in the air between the MT 3753R on a 15x8 and MT 3782R on a 18x10 that matches my front wheels.

My aftermarket wheels are way lighter than stock. $400 for just back wheels and $500 for tires... or $550+ for 4 whels and $670+ for 4 tires.

$900 vs. $1200 - $1400... If I spend the extra $400 what are my gains going to be?

I ended up buying wheel studs as well as spacers for the Jegs fronts, just not comfortable with 4 threads per stud holding the wheels on. Even though that thread on S197 says no grinding, I found that to be false as well. I think the Racestars, if in fact they are true "bolt-on" would be my choice, you should spend alot less getting them on the car. The fronts should be 10 lbs empty, the rears? Seems it's a big secret for the weights on them. Even the people that sell them, and own "race car shops" can't seem to find an available scale. However I'm betting they are close to the Jegs rears, weight wise.
As far as tires, if you know what your trap RPM is, find a gear/tire size calculator and run the numbers till you find a decent size to be close to topping out at the big end. Then choose the fronts to match, I wouldn't go more than 1" smaller than the backs for best weight transfer if your running for ET's. If your running for RT's then smaller is better, but will compromise best launch some. (search tire rollout).
When choosing tires, dont just go by the tire size they list. Take the circumference (should be listed with the specs) and divide that by 3.14 to see what your actual tire size will be.
With your power level and being an auto I would consider a drag radial if your going for ET and byass if your going for consistancy. DR's will be faster. On an 8" rim I would stick with 275's or smaller, truthfully I don't see needing anything wider than 275. As far as mixing byass and radials I haven't seen a problem with it on a drag strip.

Found some weights listed for the Racestars, for what it's worth:

Bogart Front- 11lbs.
Race star Front- 11lbs.
Bogart rears- 13.2 or so (or so? not too sure about this one, did the scale say "13.2 or so?")
Race Star Rears- 16lbs. (Just not sure if these are the 10" or 8", but it's something.)
