Thank you for the welcome. Just found this website and it is just what I was thinking about. Just a little about me, I run a 06 gt auto at a local 1/4 mile track and am having fun and some success in the program that I am running in. It is Mustang On Mustang, Heads Up Pro Tree and it runs 3 naturally aspirated classes and 2 power classes. I run in the street class that is: no drag radials or slicks with bolt-ons only, limit displacement is 306ci. With the stock tires the car came with no modifications I posted a 14.1 et and did the Cai and tune and posted 13.4xx ets and then with the 4.10's I posted 13.2xx ets and was mostly qualifying second each event behind a 4 valve cobra by .07 sec.
This year I added the deletes and Comp cams 127200 myself and still have the stock suspension and exhaust system and know what I need to get next but as money does not grow on trees I have to wait.
With these mods I should get close to a 12.xxx if I get the right launch and right air. Last year the weather was very helpful but the last run with cams I was still posting 13.2s at 104+ mph with 2.1 60' and the air was not too helpful.
I like to hear what others have done with their cars and what they are facing at the track both with traction on these street tires and the programs they run in.
Hope to hear some feedback.
The Track I race at is http://www.empiredragway.com/
http://www.momsracing.com/ is the program I run with.
If you end up there give me a shout.

Man, it sounds like a sweet little setup. Your ET's are great for street tires. My stock Pirelli tires loved heat. I did burn-outs just like I had drag tires. I would cut 1.8 60' times leaving the line at about 4k and dumping the clutch. If you have an auto, stall that sucker up as far as you can. Might want to try it at a test & tune a few times before trying it at a race.
The racing is always fun. We founded this forum to focus on NA S197 Mustangs in the racing world, but found that there really was no venue around here for the DD. So we started our own events. It's been fun so far. In the past 8 months we have had 3 events so far with a fourth coming up in just a couple weeks. We also plan on doing a full blown race season with 6 events next year.
My mustang is pretty well decked out. I have a C&L Race CAI, P&P heads, Comp Stage 3 XFI cams, Behive springs, Manley SS valves, American Racing long tube headers & catted X-pipe, AL 1 pc drive shaft, and Ford Racing 4.10 gears. I also had a TR3650, a TR6060 and then converted over to a lightly modded 5r55s w/3k TCI stall.
With drag radials and the stick I was running 12.5 at 108 mph. My best dymo pull was 400 rwhp and 365 rwtq.
I am hunting 11's while NA and full street dress, so I swapped to the auto. My best pull with the 5r55s was 375 rwhp and 345 rwtq. My best ET was 12.14 AT 110 MPH.
I blew my trans on Saturday at the track... so now it's time for a built 5r55s and a 4k PI stall. I hope the extra stall will give me the little extra pull I need out of the hole.

Wow, that set up is quite the investment and losing a tranny would put me out for the season. I never heated the tires but now you have me thinking about it, I ran against a 2010 Challenger SRT8 who did a big heating on his street tires and it did not help him at all as I left him on the line from idle. 2k is where these tires get lose cold so there is where I launch best 60' was 1.97. I run against quite a selection of stangs and these guys know their cars and put on quite a show.
If I get some more overtime I might get the headers and the axleback but It don't look good right now so I have to do with what I have. I thought I was going to have to move to the Drag radial class as the rules as were stated that the street tired champ was to move there. They changed the rule so the champ could 3 times before they had to move so I bought cams that I hoped would work with the street tires. Wish I knew about the SCT3 and how to use it to help me, I am an old points and timing light and sparkplug soothsayer I never kept up with the changes so I am in over my head when it come to tuning
I wish I could go down there and run with you guys The video's are enticing.

I figure if I am going to racce, I have to be able to pay for broken parts. It's not always easy, but it is a reallity for most of us. My wife is supportive and I make a good living, so I figure... what the hell.
Yea, most street tires hate heat. Not sure why my PZero Nero's hooked so well, but I'm not complaining... LOL
I could give you some tips on the tuner if you like. Just let me know. I do some tuning and might be able to help you with some track-side adjusting concepts.

Ah, that would be most helpful. Since I bought the device I wanted to learn it but crap, me and computers don't interface well. I, as a being, have not been upgraded since 1981 (DOS).
I have the vista system and wanted to track what the car was doing by recording a run and then look at the O2 readings and whatever and see if my tune can be adjusted to find more gains or just to see if it is running right. I run full trim and cutting out weight is not what I want to do. (shaker1000 is a heavy item) with the spare and jack I could cut about 75 lbs.
The shift points and all that seem to be self explanatory. But fuel ratios and the rest are Greek to me.
The terms are where I lack understanding.
